Hyderabad police seize old currency notes worth Rs 1.85 crore

Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Almost six months after the demonetisation took effect, Agents of Hyderabad’s Commissioners Task Force (HCTF) – North Zone – on Sunday held 13 persons for possessing old currency notes, totalling up to Rs 1.85 crore.

Apart from the demonetised currency notes, two cars and 13 cellphones have also been seized by the police during the course of action. The miscreants were nabbed while they were trying to exchange the old notes through agents.

It must be recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the demonetisation of all Rs 500&1000 banknotes of the Mahatma Gandhi Series on November 8 last year.
