New Delhi: Police as well as the administration were evidently on their toes after a grenade was found in a well at the national capital’s Red Fort on Thursday last. Subsequently, a bomb disposal team reached the spot and was still checking whether the bomb was live.
It may be recalled that in February (this year) also, empty boxes of explosives and bullets were found inside the complex of the Mughal-built monument during a clean-up drive. Moreover, the fort has been under high security since an attack was launched on it by the militants of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba in December 2000.
It must be brought to your knowledge that thousands of tourists visit the historical monument, which is situated in the heart of the city, everyday. Independence Day celebrations are also held here.
