New Delhi: While speaking at an event marking the birth anniversary of bhakti saint and Kannada philosopher Basaveshwar in the national capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the Muslims must ensure that the ‘triple talaq’ issue was not being politicised.
“Apparently trying to add political flavours to the triple talaq issue, I find so many people debating on it these days. Therefore, I humbly request the Muslims not to allow anyone to politicise the issue,” said PM Modi. “As I Keep the great Indian tradition in mind, my heart gets filled with hope that the community’s powerful people will definitely emerge someday to eradicate these outdated practices from the country,” he added.
In his 40-minute address at the event, the Premier also talked about equality, women empowerment and good governance among other topics.
